Applying the principles of exercise physiology to maintaining a healthy singing voice at any age, Dr. Victoria Meredith addresses challenges that singers tend to experience across time, as well as relationships between choral singing and various aspects of health. In this interactive session, participants will explore a wide range of vocal conditioning techniques that contribute to the preservation of the voice for a lifetime.
This will be a workshop for singers of all ages and stages, reminding us that the principle source of a healthy voice is its healthy use in daily living.
Clinician
Dr. Victoria Meredith is Professor at the Don Wright Faculty of Music at the University of Western Ontario (London) where she is the Associate Dean and Coordinator of Choral Activities. A frequent clinician and guest conductor, Victoria Meredith has directed choirs of all ages across Canada and the United States, including the 2010 National Youth Choir of Canada and honour choirs in nearly every province. Ensembles under her direction have earned six CBC National Choral Competition prizes and five Canadian Music Educators' Association National Performance Awards. She has published articles on a wide range of topics of interest to choral musicians as well as numerous critical performing editions of choral music. Dr. Meredith’s work on the aging voice has gained international recognition through the publication of her award-winning book “Sing Better As You Age” and in the insightful and rewarding workshops she presents on both sides of the border.
